Cooking : Apple Pie Sauce

Ingredients
2/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup butter
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, cinnamon and cloves. Microwave on HIGH in increments of 2 minutes, stirring between each 2 minute period, until the sauce comes to a boil. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Cooking : BBQ Bacon Ranch Dip

Ingredients
7 slices bacon
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (1 ounce) envelope ranch dressing mix
1/2 cup barbeque sauce
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Directions
Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate. Crumble the cooled bacon into a bowl and set aside.
Stir together the cream cheese and ranch dressing mix in a bowl until smooth. Spread the mixture on the bottom of a pie dish. Evenly spread the barbecue sauce on top of the cream cheese mixture. Layer the bacon, bell pepper, and tomato on top of the barbecue sauce and top with the Cheddar cheese. Cover and chill for 1 hour before serving.

Ingredients
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries*
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
In a large bowl, combine oats and orange juice; let stand for 5 minutes. Beat in the egg, oil and sugar until blended. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda; stir into oat mixture just until moistened. Fold in blueberries. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack.

Cooking : Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups cubed whole wheat bread
3 3/4 cups cubed white bread
1 pound ground turkey sausage
1 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped celery
2 1/2 teaspoons dried sage
1 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 Golden Delicious apple, cored and chopped
3/4 cup dried cranberries
1/3 cup minced fresh parsley
1 cooked turkey liver, finely chopped
3/4 cup turkey stock
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degree F (175 degree C). Spread the white and whole wheat bread cubes in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes in the preheated oven, or until evenly toasted. Transfer toasted bread cubes to a large bowl.
In a large skillet, cook the sausage and onions over medium heat, stirring and breaking up the lumps until evenly browned. Add the celery, sage, rosemary, and thyme; cook, stirring, for 2 minutes to blend flavors.
Pour sausage mixture over bread in bowl. Mix in chopped apples, dried cranberries, parsley, and liver. Drizzle with turkey stock and melted butter, and mix lightly. Spoon into turkey to loosely fill.

Cooking : Bellini Meanie Martini

Ingredients
1/4 cup good quality vodka
2 fluid ounces peach schnapps
1 cup ice cubes
2 fluid ounces champagne
3 fresh raspberries for garnish

Directions
Pour the vodka and peach schnapps into a shaker with the ice. Shake until frothy. Strain into a martini glass, and top off with champagne. Garnish with fresh raspberries.

Cooking : Anise Almond Loaf

Ingredients
3/4 cup water (70 to 80 degrees F)
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon anise seed
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup chopped almonds

Directions
In bread machine pan, place first eight ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose light crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed). Just before the final kneading (your machine may audibly signal this), add almonds.

Cooking : Authentic Bangladeshi Beef Curry

Ingredients
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, chopped
6 cloves garlic, minced
5 green chile peppers, finely sliced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger root - peeled, sliced, and ground into a paste
3 cardamom pods
2 whole cloves
1 1/2 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 cup water
2 pounds boneless beef chuck, cut into 1-1/2-inch pieces

Directions
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion; cook and stir until the onion has softened and turned translucent, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low, and continue cooking and stirring until the onion is very tender and dark brown, 15 to 20 minutes more.
Stir in the garlic, green chiles, ginger paste, cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Cook and stir for an additional 3 to 5 minutes, until the garlic begins to brown.
Stir the cumin, coriander, turmeric, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and water into the onions. Simmer until most of the water has evaporated and the mixture has thickened.
Stir in the beef chuck and cook on medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the meat is cooked through and tender, about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

Cooking : Banana Bread French Toast

Ingredients
3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter
1 loaf banana bread
confectioners' sugar for dusting (optional)

Directions
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla with a fork. Set aside.
Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Slice banana bread into 4 thick slices. Dip each slice into the egg mixture, then place in the hot pan. Cook on each side until golden brown. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving, if desired.

Cooking : Blackberry Jalapeno Jelly

Ingredients
1 (1.75 ounce) package powdered pectin
1/2 cup white sugar
4 cups blackberry juice
1 green jalapeno pepper, minced
1 red jalapeno pepper, minced
3 1/2 cups white sugar
5 half pint canning jars with lids and rings

Directions
Mix the pectin crystals with 1/2 cup sugar in a bowl. Stir the blackberry juice, pectin mixture, green jalapeno, and red jalapeno together in a saucepan; bring the mixture to a boil for 1 full minute. Add the 3 1/2 cups sugar and return to a rolling boil until the sugar has fully dissolved, about 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir while off heat to remove bubbles and foam for about 5 minutes.
Ladle into sterile jars leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Seal jars in a hot water bath. Refrigerate jelly after seal is broken.

Cooking : Apple Cider Pound Cake

Ingredients
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups butter or margarine
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup apple cider
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Directions
In a large mixing bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir together all dry ingredients; set aside. Combine cider and vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with cider mixture to batter. Mix until well blended. Spoon into a greased 10-in. angel food cake pan or fluted tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees F for about 1 hour and 10 minutes or until cake tests done. Meanwhile, combine all icing ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. While cake is warm, drizzle 1/2 of the icing over cake. Serve remaining icing over individual cake servings, if desired.

Cooking : Boyd's Pinto Beans

Ingredients
1 pound dry pinto beans
1/3 pound smoked pork neck bones
4 cups water
2 tablespoons shortening

Directions
Place the pinto beans into a large container and cover with several inches of cool water; let stand 8 hours to overnight. Or, bring the beans and water to a boil in a large pot over high heat. Once boiling, turn off the heat, cover, and let stand 1 hour. Drain and rinse before using.
Bring the neck bones to a boil with 4 cups of water in a large saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-high; simmer 20 to 30 minutes.
Pour the drained beans into the simmering water with the neck bones; add additional water to just cover the beans. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 1 hour. Make sure that the water level continues to cover the beans as they cook; use more water as needed. After 1 hour, stir in the shortening; continue simmering until the beans are tender, about 30 minutes more.

Cooking : Beef Onion Soup

Ingredients
1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed French onion soup
1 cup cubed cooked beef
2 (3/4 inch thick) slices French bread, toasted
1/3 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
2 teaspoons shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions
Prepare soup according to package directions; add beef. Ladle into two 2-cup ovenproof bowls. Top each with a French bread slice. Sprinkle with Monterey Jack cheese and Parmesan cheese if desired. Broil until cheese is melted. Serve immediately.

Cooking : Blackened Chicken

Ingredients
1 tablespoon paprika
4 teaspoons sugar, divided
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons pepper, divided
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
1 1/3 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons cider vinegar

Directions
In a small bowl, combine paprika, I teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, garlic powder, thyme, lemon-pepper, cayenne and 1/2 to 1 teaspoon pepper; sprinkle over both sides of chicken. Set aside. In another bowl, combine mayonnaise, water, vinegar and remaining sugar, salt and pepper; cover and chill 1 cup for serving. Save remaining sauce for basting.
Grill chicken, covered, over indirect medium heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until juices run clear, basting frequently with remaining sauce. Serve with reserved sauce.

Cooking : Bacon Roll Ups II

Ingredients
1 (1 pound) loaf white bread, crusts trimmed
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 pound sliced bacon, cut in half

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Cut each slice of white bread in half horizontally. Spread with cream cheese. Tightly roll each piece of bread with half a piece of bacon. The bacon should be on the outside of the bread. Secure with toothpicks.
Arrange roll ups in a single layer on a medium baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, or until bacon is no longer pink and bread is lightly browned. Serve warm.

Cooking : Beer Batter Fish Made Great

Ingredients
2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
8 (4 ounce) fillets cod
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons paprika
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle beer

Directions
Heat oil in a deep fryer to 365 degrees F (185 degrees C). Rinse fish, pat dry, and season with salt and pepper.
Combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, 2 teaspoons salt, and 2 teaspoons pepper. Stir egg into dry ingredients. Gradually mix in beer until a thin batter is formed. You should be able to see the fish through the batter after it has been dipped.
Dip fish fillets into the batter, then drop one at a time into hot oil. Fry fish, turning once, until both sides are golden brown. Drain on paper towels, and serve warm.

Ingredients
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup flaked coconut
2/3 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons milk
CHOCOLATE LAYER:
1/3 cup butter
1 (1 ounce) square unsweetened chocolate
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Directions
In a bowl, combine the first four ingredients. Stir in oats and coconut. Add butter and milk; mix well. Press into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes. Remove from the oven. Reduce heat to 325 degrees F.
In a saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate; cool slightly. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, brown sugar, milk and vanilla; mix well. Add chocolate mixture; mix well. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to chocolate mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts. Spread evenly over crust. Bake at 325 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs (do not overbake). Cool on a wire rack.
In a mixing bowl, combine the first four frosting ingredients until smooth and creamy. Spread over bars. Sprinkle with walnuts. Store in the refrigerator.

Cooking : Beefy Spanish Rice

Ingredients
1 cup uncooked brown rice
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (28 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions
Cook rice according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in tomatoes, seasonings and rice. Transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350°: for 50-55 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, 5-10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

Cooking : Bacon-Onion Pan Rolls

Ingredients
1 (1 pound) loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
1/4 cup butter or margarine, divided
1/2 pound sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/2 cup chopped onion

Directions
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with a 2-1/2-in. biscuit cutter; brush with 3 tablespoons butter. Place 1 teaspoon of bacon and onion on half of each roll. Fold over and pinch to seal. Place, pinched edge up, in a greased 9-in. square baking pan, forming three rows of six. Brush tops with remaining butter. Let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Cooking : Broccoli Supreme

Ingredients
1 (16 ounce) package frozen chopped broccoli, thawed and drained
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 (2 ounce) jar diced pimientos, drained
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions
In a bowl, combine the first seven ingredients; stir to coat. Transfer to a greased 1-1/2-qt. baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until heated through.

Cooking : Amish White Bread

Ingredients
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2/3 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour

Directions
In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes, or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes.

Cooking : Aunt Rosie's Gob Cake

Ingredients
1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups milk
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10x15 inch pan. Line a second 10x15 inch pan with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, 1/4 cup oil, 1 1/2 cup milk and 4 eggs. Beat 4 minutes on high speed. Divide batter into the two 10x15 inch pans.
Bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.
To make the filling: In a large bowl, combine 2 cups confectioners' sugar, 1/2 cup milk, shortening, butter, vanilla and flour. Beat on high speed for 5 minutes, or until it achieves the consistency of whipped cream.
Spread filling over the layer in the greased pan. Loosen the sides of the other layer by running a knife around the edge between the cake and the pan. Flip the cake onto the frosted layer. Remove the pan and parchment paper from the top layer and serve.

Cooking : A Farewell to Basil Fettuccine

Ingredients
3/4 cup chopped fresh basil
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 tablespoons water
2 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Directions
Using a food processor, process basil leaves until chopped very fine. Add 1 1/2 cups of flour and pulse two or three times, or until combined. Add egg, 1 teaspoon oil, and the water until dough forms a ball shape. If dough seems dry, add a bit more water. Wrap dough in a piece of plastic wrap which has been coated in a few drops of olive oil. Refrigerate dough for 2 hours.
Remove dough from refrigerator, and cut into 6 equal size portions. Run pasta though pasta machine, or roll with rolling pin to desired thickness. Use the additional flour to coat pasta while rolling.
Allow pasta to dry for one hour prior to cooking.
Cook in a large pot of boiling water until al dente. This should take only a 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the pasta.

Cooking : Bee Sting Cake (Bienenstich) I

Ingredients
2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs, room temperature
3 egg yolks
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup warm milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup sour cream, room temperature
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
3/8 cup heavy whipping cream
3/8 cup honey
1/4 cup lemon juice
5/8 cup sliced almonds
2 cups pastry cream

Directions
Combine the yeast, and the warm water; set aside to proof for 5 minutes.
Cream 3/4 cup butter and sugar until light. Beat in the eggs and yolks one at a time. Add the vanilla, milk, sour cream, and yeast. Beat until smooth. Add the flour a little at a time to form a soft dough. Add all of the flour, and continue to beat until elastic, about 8 minutes. Place dough into an oiled bowl, cover and place in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 50 minutes. Can be placed in the refrigerator overnight instead.
Beat down the dough, and divide into two pieces. Place each in a buttered 9 inch square pan. Brush the top of each with 1 tablespoon of the melted butter. Cover and let rise until doubled.
For the glaze, place the brown sugar, 6 tablespoons butter, cream, and honey in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, and stir until the sugar dissolves. Boil for 30 seconds. Remove from heat; add the lemon juice and almonds. Let cool slightly. Drizzle the warm glaze, not hot, over each of the cakes.
Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 30 minutes, or until the nuts are golden. Cool on a rack.
Split the cakes lengthwise using a serrated knife, and fill with the pastry cream. Sandwich cakes back together and serve.

Cooking : Busia's Polish Sausage

Ingredients
3 pounds pork shoulder, trimmed and cubed
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon salt
ground black pepper to taste
sausage casings

Directions
In a medium bowl, mix together the pork, garlic, salt and pepper. Place on a clean smooth surface and knead, knead, knead for at least 10 or 15 minutes. The longer you knead it, the more tender your sausage will be.
Soak the sausage casings in water for 1 or 2 minutes. Rinse the casings by sliding over the faucet. Slide the casing all the way up onto the spout of a sausage stuffing funnel. Press meat through the funnel into the casing carefully so that no air bubbles get inside. Sausages should be plump. Twist periodically to form links.
Place sausages in a large pot with enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 1 hour and 15 minutes. They can be frozen after cooling. Use as you would store bought Polish Sausage.

Cooking : Applesauce Sandwich

Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
2 slices bread
3 tablespoons applesauce

Directions
Heat a skillet over low heat. Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Place bread slices, buttered side down, in skillet. Divide applesauce onto both slices of bread, and spread to the edges.
Cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Fold slices together, and cool 5 minutes. Cut into quarters.

Cooking : Brussels Sprouts Salad

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup olive or vegetable oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 head red leaf lettuce or radiccio, torn
2 tablespoons slivered almonds, toasted

Directions
Place 1 in. of water in a saucepan; add brussels sprouts. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until tender. Drain; rinse with cold water and pat dry. Place sprouts and onions in a bowl; set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk the oil, lemon juice, mustard, salt, thyme and pepper. Toss lettuce with 2 tablespoons of dressing; place in a large shallow serving bowl. Pour remaining dressing over brussels sprouts and toss to coat; mound on lettuce. Sprinkle with almonds.

Cooking : Berry Blend Salad

Ingredients
2 cups torn romaine lettuce
1 cup torn radicchio
1 cup torn escarole
1 cup torn red leaf lettuce
1 cup snow peas
1/2 cup sliced fresh strawberries
1 cup diced cooked ham
1/2 cup diced Muenster cheese
1/2 cup raspberry vinegar
1/2 cup canola oil
8 packets artificial sweetener
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions
Place the romaine, radicchio, escarole, and red leaf into a colander. Rinse, drain and set aside. Rinse the peas and cut into thirds. Transfer the mixed greens and peas into a large bowl, and gently toss in the cheese, ham and strawberries. Set aside.
In a shaker container or a jar with lid, add the vinegar, oil, sweetener, mustard, oregano and pepper and shake well. Add up to two additional packets of sweetener, if desired. Pour over salad just before serving, or pour into a serving container and pass.

Ingredients
8 banana peppers
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 1/2 teaspoons salt, divided
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pound hot Italian sausage
1 pound mild Italian sausage
1 1/2 cups bread crumbs

Directions
Cut off tops of peppers, and remove ribs and seeds. Chop edible portions of tops; set aside. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add peppers, reduce heat, and simmer until tender but still firm, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
Heat butter in a medium skillet. Saute reserved chopped pepper, onion and celery until tender, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and garlic. Season with basil, oregano, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, combine egg, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, Worcestershire sauce and Parmesan. Mix in hot sausage, mild sausage, bread crumbs and 1 cup of the tomato sauce mixture.
Using a piping bag or sausage stuffer, fill each pepper with the meat mixture. Place in a 3 quart casserole dish, and pour remaining tomato sauce mixture over peppers.
Bake uncovered in preheated oven for 1 hour.

Cooking : Beef Teriyaki

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups uncooked glutinous white rice
1 2/3 cups water
1 pound boneless beef sirloin steak (3/4 inch thick)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
4 cups fresh broccoli florets

Directions
In a saucepan bring water to a boil. Add rice and stir. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, slice beef into very thin strips.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cornstarch, broth, soy sauce, sugar and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly.
In a large skillet, over medium/high heat, saute the beef strips until browned and juices evaporate.
Stir broccoli and cornstarch mixture into meat. Cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring frequently. Serve over the cooked rice.

Cooking : Barbequed Cabbage

Ingredients
1/2 head cabbage, cut into thick shreds
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup butter
freshly ground pepper to taste

Directions
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat.
Evenly divide the cabbage among 4 squares of aluminum foil. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of soy sauce over each pile of cabbage, and place a tablespoon of butter on top. Season with pepper to taste, and fold the sides of the foil over the cabbage, sealing to form a packet.
Place packets onto preheated grill, and cook until the cabbage is tender, 15 to 20 minutes.

Cooking : Burgundy Stroganoff

Ingredients
2 tablespoons margarine
2 pounds beef round steak, cut into thin strips
1/4 cup all-purpose flour for dusting
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup beef broth
1/2 cup Burgundy wine
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon ground thyme
1 (12 ounce) package wide egg noodles
3/4 cup sour cream

Directions
Melt margarine in a large skillet over medium heat. Add beef strips, and fry until browned. Stir in onion and cook, stirring, for 3 minutes, or until softened. Sprinkle flour over the meat, and stir into the pan juices until blended. Gradually mix in the beef broth, Burgundy, tomato paste and thyme. Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 40 to 45 minutes.
During the last 15 minutes of the cooking, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add egg noodles, and cook until tender, about 7 minutes.
Remove the burgundy beef from the heat and stir in sour cream. Serve over hot egg noodles.

Cooking : Abstinence on the Beach

Ingredients
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen concentrated grapefruit juice
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen cranberry juice concentrate
1/4 cup coconut milk
9 cups cold water

Directions
In a 6 quart container combine concentrated grapefruit juice, concentrated cranberry juice and water. Put about 1 cup of juice and coconut milk in food processor or blender. Blend until smooth and pour back into main juice mixture. Stir to incorporate.
Chill at least 2 hours. Serve in punch bowl or pitcher.

Cooking : Basic Fondue

Ingredients
2 cups milk
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons ground dry mustard
1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
6 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions
In a medium saucepan over low heat, mix together milk, Worcestershire sauce, ground dry mustard, garlic and flour. Heat until almost boiling. Gradually stir in Cheddar cheese. Continue heating until all the cheese has melted. Keep the mixture warm and melted in a fondue dish.
