Cooking : Banana Nut Muesli

Ingredients
1 cup water
2/3 cup quick-cooking oats
1 firm bananas. sliced
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup chopped almonds
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
In a bowl, mix all of the ingredients. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Serve chilled.

Cooking : Blackberry Fool

Ingredients
4 cups heavy cream
1 cup confectioners' sugar, divided
1/2 cup sour cream, at room temperature
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
2 pints fresh blackberries
8 strips of lemon zest, for garnish
8 sprigs fresh mint

Directions
Pour the heavy cream into a large bowl with half of the confectioners' sugar and almond extract. Whip until stiff. Fold in sour cream. Refrigerate.
In a separate bowl, toss blackberries with the remaining confectioners' sugar. Let stand at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
In 8 parfait glasses, layer whipped cream and blackberries, beginning and ending with whipped cream. Garnish each parfait with a strip of lemon zest, a few blackberries and a sprig of mint.

Cooking : Bacon-Mushroom Brussels Sprouts

Ingredients
2 cups Brussels sprouts, halved
3 bacon strips, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/4 cup chicken broth
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Directions
Place brussels sprouts in a saucepan; cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 8 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain and keep warm.
In a skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove to paper towels; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. Saute onion and mushrooms in the drippings for 3-5 minutes or until tender.
Add the broth, salt and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 3-4 minutes or until broth is reduced by half. Stir in brussels sprouts and bacon.

Cooking : Brussels Sprouts and Barley Soup

Ingredients
12 cups chicken broth
1 cup chopped fresh green beans
1 1/4 cups cubed turnips
1/2 cup chopped leeks
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/3 cup barley
1 1/2 pounds Brussels sprouts, trimmed and cut in half
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour

Directions
Measure the chicken broth into a large soup pot. Bring to a boil. Add the beans, turnips, leeks, carrots and barley; simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes. Add the Brussels sprouts and green pepper. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer until the sprouts are tender, about 30 minutes more.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until it starts to brown. Whisk in the flour until smooth. Stir this into the soup and simmer until thickened, about 10 minutes.

Cooking : Black-eyed Peas and Ham Hocks

Ingredients
3 cups water
1 pound dry black-eyed peas
2 smoked ham hocks
salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 bay leaf

Directions
Rinse dried peas thoroughly, sorting any tiny pebbles or other debris.
In a large stockpot, bring 3 cups of water to a boil with black-eyed peas, ham hocks, salt, pepper, and bay leaf. Reduce to a simmer and cook, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours, or until peas and ham hocks are tender. If ham hocks require further cooking, simmer in water in a separate pot until meat is easily pulled from the bone.
Cool ham hocks and remove all meat from the bone. Stir ham into the peas, adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed, and serve.

Cooking : Boysenberry Cashew Cheesecake Ice Cream

Ingredients
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
3 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
2 cups buttermilk
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
1/8 cup lemon juice
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1 pinch salt
1/4 cup coarsely chopped cashews
1/4 cup boysenberry preserves

Directions
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter. Press mixture evenly into the bottom of a pie pan. Bake for 8 minutes, and remove from oven. When cool, break into small pieces.
Combine buttermilk, sweetened condensed milk, cream cheese, lemon juice, zest, and salt in a blender or food processor. Process until smooth. Pour into an ice cream maker, and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Mix in cashews and pieces of graham cracker crust. Gently fold in preserves to create a ribbon effect. Transfer to the freezer for 1 hour to harden.

Cooking : Blackberry Pie I

Ingredients
4 cups fresh blackberries
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
2 tablespoons milk
1/4 cup white sugar

Directions
Combine 3 1/2 cups berries with the sugar and flour. Spoon the mixture into an unbaked pie shell. Spread the remaining 1/2 cup berries on top of the sweetened berries, and cover with the top crust. Seal and crimp the edges. Brush the top crust with milk, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar.
Bake at 425 degree F (220 degrees C) for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature of the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C), and bake for an additional 20 to 25 minutes.

Cooking : Boiling Water Crust II

Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 cup boiling water
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt

Directions
Place shortening and milk in a large heatproof bowl. Pour in boiling water and whisk until mixture is the consistency of heavy cream.
In a medium bowl, mix together flour and salt. Add to shortening mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon just until dough forms a ball. Refrigerate before rolling out.

Cooking : Beef Stew with Ale

Ingredients
2 pounds beef brisket, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
5 tablespoons canola oil
2 cups diced portobello mushroom caps
1 1/2 cups red pearl onions, peeled
1 cup diced carrot
1 cup diced celery root (celeriac)
1 cup diced turnip
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 (12 fluid ounce) cans or bottles brown lager beer
2 cups beef broth
1 cup diced potato
1 tablespoon malt vinegar
4 sprigs fresh thyme, chopped
2 sprigs fresh rosemary, chopped

Directions
Place the brisket cubes into a mixing bowl, and season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with flour, and toss until evenly coated. Heat the canola oil in a Dutch oven or large pot over high heat. Cook the meat in small batches until browned on all sides; about 5 minutes per batch. Set the meat aside as the batches are done.
Once the meat has been browned and set aside, stir in the portobello mushrooms, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the mushrooms, and set aside. Stir the pearl onions, carrot, celery root, and turnips into the pot. Cook and stir until the onions begin to turn light brown, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic, and continue cooking until the onions are golden brown, about 3 minutes more. Remove the vegetables and set aside.
Return the beef to the pot, and pour in the beer. Bring to a boil, and cook until the beer has reduced to 1/3 of its original volume, about 8 minutes. Pour in the beef broth and return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the meat starts to become tender, about 1 hour. Return the browned vegetables to the pot along with the potatoes, recover, and cook 1 hour more.
Stir in the reserved mushrooms, malt vinegar, thyme, and rosemary. Simmer a few minutes until heated through. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.

Cooking : Bittered Gin Sling

Ingredients
1 1/2 (1.5 fluid ounce) jiggers gin
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
2 dashes bitters (such as Angostura�)
2 ounces club soda, or as needed
1 (2 inch) piece lemon peel for garnish

Directions
Put ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour in gin, vermouth, lemon juice, simple syrup, bitters. Shake well. Add ice to a highball glass. Strain cocktail into highball glass, top off with club soda, and garnish with lemon peel.

Cooking : Best-Ever Chocolate Fudge Layer Cake

Ingredients
1 (8 ounce) package BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, divided
1 (18.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1 pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
1 cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water
1 (8 ounce) tub COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
2 tablespoons PLANTERS Sliced Almonds

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease two 9-inch round baking pans. Chop 2 of the chocolate squares; set aside. Beat cake mix, dry pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, oil and water in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed just until moistened. Beat on medium speed 2 min. Stir in chopped chocolate. Spoon into prepared pans.
Bake 30 to 35 min. or until wooden toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks 10 min. Loosen cakes from sides of pans. Invert onto racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.
Place frozen whipped topping and remaining 6 chocolate squares in microwaveable bowl. Microwave on HIGH 1-1/2 min. or until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is smooth, stirring after 1 min. Let stand 15 min. to thicken. Place one cake layer on serving plate; top with one-fourth of the chocolate mixture and second cake layer. Spread top and side with remaining chocolate mixture. Garnish with almonds. Store leftovers in refrigerator.

Cooking : Autumn Pot Roast

Ingredients
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 (5 pound) boneless beef rump roast
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 cup tomato juice
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
8 medium carrots, cut into thirds
1/2 pound small whole onions
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cold water
salt and pepper to taste

Directions
In a Dutch oven over medium heat, saute garlic in oil for 1 minute. Add the roast; brown on all sides.
In a large bowl, combine vinegar, tomato juice, ketchup, sugar, salt and pepper; pour over roast. Cover and simmer for 2 hours. Add carrots and onions; cover and cook for 1 hour longer or until meat and vegetables are tender. Remove to a serving platter and keep warm.
Skim fat from pan juices. Add water to juices to measure 3 cups. Mix flour and cold water until smooth; stir into pan juices. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Season with salt and pepper. Slice roast; serve with vegetables and gravy.

Cooking : Aloha Chicken

Ingredients
4 pounds chicken thighs
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon onion powder
2 tablespoons garlic salt
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple with juice
1/4 cup packed brown sugar

Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Arrange chicken pieces in a single layer in a well greased 9x13 inch baking dish. In a small bowl mix together the ginger, paprika, onion powder and garlic salt. Add the vinegar and mix well. Divide this mixture. Brush 1/2 over the chicken pieces and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
Turn the chicken pieces, baste with the remaining 1/2 of the vinegar mixture and bake for 15 minutes longer. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl combine the ketchup, soy sauce, pineapple and brown sugar. When chicken baking time is up, spoon the pineapple/soy mixture over the chicken. Bake for another 30 minutes. Serve while still hot.

Cooking : Blue Ribbon Fruit Cookies

Ingredients
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup candied pineapple
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions
Combine melted butter and brown sugar in large mixer bowl; blend well. Add eggs; beat well.
Melt chocolate in top of a double boiler over hot (not boiling) water; add to egg-sugar mixture.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon; gradually add to chocolate mixture. Stir in candied pineapple, raisins and nuts.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 8-10 minutes or until almost set. Cool slightly on cookie sheet. Remove from cookie sheet; cool on wire rack.

Cooking : Blonde Brownies III

Ingredients
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup butter
2 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together, and set aside. Using a large pan, melt the butter and stir in the brown sugar. Let this cool for about 10 minutes and then add the eggs one at a time. Be sure to beat well after adding each egg. Add the flour mixture, the nuts and the chocolate chips and blend well. Spread in the greased pan.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven or until the edges begin to pull away from the sides. Cut into small squares when cool.

Cooking : Bacon-Wrapped Peanut Butter Jalapenos

Ingredients
8 jalapeno peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded
1/2 cup peanut butter
8 slices bacon, cut in half

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Fill each jalapeno half with peanut butter and with a piece of bacon; secure the bacon with a toothpick. Arrange the wrapped jalapenos on a baking sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven until the bacon is dark brown, about 25 minutes.

Cooking : Best Grilled Margarita Chicken... Ever!

Ingredients
2/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons coarse black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion salt
1/2 cup margarita mix
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons tequila
3 tablespoons triple sec
2 tablespoons honey
1 cup light olive oil
6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

Directions
Place cilantro, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in the bowl of a blender. Pour in margarita mix, lime juice, orange juice, tequila, triple sec, and honey. Puree on high speed until smooth, then reduce speed to medium-low, and slowly add the olive oil; blend until creamy. Place chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or glass bowl; pour marinade overtop and toss to coat. Refrigerate for 5 hours.
Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil grate.
Remove chicken from the marinade, shake off excess, and discard remaining marinade. Grill the chicken until tender and juices run clear, approximately 7 minutes per side.

Cooking : Buttermilk Pancakes II

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons white sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup butter, melted

Directions
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, beat together buttermilk, milk, eggs and melted butter. Keep the two mixtures separate until you are ready to cook.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. You can flick water across the surface and if it beads up and sizzles, it's ready!
Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, using a wooden spoon or fork to blend. Stir until it's just blended together. Do not over stir! Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/2 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Cooking : Alysia's Basic Meat Lasagna

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (28 ounce) jar sausage flavored spaghetti sauce
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 small onion, diced
1 (8 ounce) package mozzarella cheese, shredded
8 ounces provolone cheese, shredded
1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
9 lasagna noodles
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a skillet over medium heat season ground beef with garlic powder and oregano. Brown the meat and drain.
In a large sauce pan add spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce, and oregano; set aside. In a skillet heat olive oil. Saute garlic and onions for about 5 minutes. Mix sauteed onions and garlic with meat into the sauce and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
Combine mozzarella and provolone cheeses in a medium bowl. In a medium bowl mix ricotta cheese, eggs, milk, and oregano.
Layer a 9x13 inch baking pan with just enough sauce to cover the bottom of the pan. Lay three lasagna noodles in the pan. Cover with sauce, then with ricotta mixture then sprinkle with mozzarella/provolone mixture; repeat layering. Finish with a layer of noodles and remaining sauce. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
Bake covered in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for 15 minutes.

Cooking : 2-Step Creamy Chicken and Pasta

Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breast, cut up
1 (16 ounce) bag frozen pasta and vegetable blend
1 (10.75 ounce) can your favorite Campbell's� Cream Soup*
1/2 cup water

Directions
Heat oil in skillet. Add chicken and cook until browned, stirring often.
Add vegetable pasta blend, soup and water. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 10 minutes or until done.

Cooking : Beef and Cheese Baked Pasta

Ingredients
1 pound uncooked pasta
1 pound ground beef
1 onion, chopped
6 1/2 cups Classico� Tomato and Basil Sauce
6 ounces provolone cheese, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups sour cream
6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water until al dente. Drain.
Meanwhile, cook ground meat and onion in a skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently, until meat is browned. Stir in pasta sauce, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer the ingredients in the prepared baking dish as follows: half of the cooked pasta, all the provolone cheese, all the sour cream, half of the sauce mixture, remaining pasta, mozzarella cheese, and remaining sauce mixture. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until bubbly.

Cooking : Apple-Topped Pork Loin

Ingredients
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 teaspoon ground mustard
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon rubbed sage
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 (4 pound) boneless pork loin roast
2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
APPLE TOPPING:
1 1/2 cups finely chopped peeled tart apples
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground mace

Directions
In a small bowl, combine the first seven ingredients; rub over roast. In a large skillet, heat oil; brown roast on all sides. Place on a rack in a shallow baking pan. Bake, uncovered, at 325 degrees F for 1-1/2 hours.
Combine the topping ingredients; spread over top of roast. Bake 1 to 1-1/2 hours longer or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees F. Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.

Cooking : Blueberry Banana Salad

Ingredients
2 cups sliced firm bananas
1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 cup miniature marshmallows
2 tablespoons flaked coconut
1/2 cup sour cream

Directions
In a bowl, combine the bananas, blueberries,s oranges, marshmallows and coconut. Gently fold in the sour cream. Refrigerate leftovers.

Cooking : Apricot Brisket

Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 pounds beef brisket
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves crushed garlic
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 pound dried apricots

Directions
In a large heavy skillet, heat oil over medium high heat. When the oil is hot, brown the beef on all sides. If the brisket is too large, cut it in half first, and brown in two stages. Place the meat in a large Dutch oven with a lid.
Add onions to the drippings in the skillet. Saute over medium heat until the onions are beginning to brown. Stir in garlic, and cook for 2 or 3 more minutes. Pour over the brisket in the Dutch oven.
Empty one package of dry, instant onion soup mix over the browned onions and meat. Arrange all of the apricots on top of the soup mix. Pour enough water around outside of meat, not on top, to cover the sides of brisket. Cover.
Bake at 325 degrees F (160 degrees C) for 1 hour. Check liquid; if dish is starting to look dry, add a bit more water around meat. Cover, and cook another hour. Remove lid, and stir apricots into gravy. Leave uncovered, and cook for another hour. Stir gravy again, and add more water if the gravy is too thick. Meat should be very tender; if necessary, bake for an additional 1/2 hour. Cut across grain to serve.

Cooking : Baked Pancakes with Sausages

Ingredients
1 pound pork sausage links
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
5 teaspoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk
3 tablespoons shortening, melted

Directions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Grease a 10x15 inch jellyroll pan. Place sausages in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain and set aside.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, white sugar and salt, set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add milk and shortening; mix well. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared jelly roll pan. Arrange sausages on top of the batter.
Bake for 15 minutes, In the preheated oven, or until pancakes are cooked through. Cut into 10 pieces and serve hot with butter and syrup.

Cooking : Berry Sour Cream Cake

Ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups fresh raspberries
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons milk

Directions
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, sour cream and vanilla; mix well. Combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture. Spread into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with raspberries and blueberries. Bake at 325 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
For glaze, in a mixing bowl, beat confectioners' sugar, butter, vanilla and enough milk to achieve drizzling consistency. Drizzle over warm cake. Cool on a wire rack before cutting.

Cooking : Aaron's Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant butterscotch pudding mix
2/3 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, stir together cake mix, instant pudding, and rolled oats. Add oil, sour cream, water, and vanilla; mix until smooth and well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, and place 2 inches apart on the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Directions
Place asparagus in a steamer basket. Place in a saucepan over 1 in. of water; bring to a boil. Cover; steam for 4-6 minutes or until crisp-tender. Immediately rinse in cold water. Place asparagus and green onions in a bowl.
Whisk together the oil, vinegar, teriyaki sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Pour over asparagus mixture; toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Stir before serving.

Cooking : Baked Miniature Pumpkins

Ingredients
1 small sugar pumpkin
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon butter
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Cut off the top of the pumpkin and scrape out all the seeds. Place the butter or margarine and brown sugar inside the pumpkin and sprinkle with ground cinnamon. Put the pumpkin lid back on and place pumpkin in a baking pan with a little water in the bottom.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 30 minutes or until tender. These can also be baked in the microwave on high for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Cooking : Beer Battered Fried Vegetables

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups beer
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups vegetable oil for frying
1 carrot, cut into thick strips
1 onion, sliced into rings
6 fresh mushrooms, stems removed
1 green bell pepper, sliced in rings

Directions
In a medium bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cup flour and beer with a wooden spoon; let stand for at least 3 hours at room temperature.
Mix eggs and milk in a small bowl. In a separate bowl mix together 1/2 cup flour and salt and pepper.
Heat oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Dip each vegetable in the egg and milk mixture. Next dip the vegetable into the flour and seasoning mixture, finally dip the vegetable in the beer and flour mixture. Place the vegetables into the oil and fry until golden brown,

Cooking : Brazilian Quentao

Ingredients
1 cup white sugar
3 cups water
3/4 cup cubed fresh ginger root
2 limes, sliced
4 cinnamon sticks, broken in half
1 (750 milliliter) bottle cachaca

Directions
Pour sugar into a 3-quart saucepan and place over medium-high heat. Cook while stirring gently until the sugar melts and turns golden brown, about 10 minutes.
Carefully and slowly pour in the water, stirring to dissolve the caramel. Add the ginger, lime, and cinnamon; bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Pour in the cachaca, and cook until hot, about 5 minutes more. Strain before serving.

Cooking : BBQ Bacon Ranch Dip

Ingredients
7 slices bacon
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (1 ounce) envelope ranch dressing mix
1/2 cup barbeque sauce
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Directions
Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate. Crumble the cooled bacon into a bowl and set aside.
Stir together the cream cheese and ranch dressing mix in a bowl until smooth. Spread the mixture on the bottom of a pie dish. Evenly spread the barbecue sauce on top of the cream cheese mixture. Layer the bacon, bell pepper, and tomato on top of the barbecue sauce and top with the Cheddar cheese. Cover and chill for 1 hour before serving.

Cooking : Black Forest Crepes

Ingredients
1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon almond extract
2/3 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/4 cup blanched almonds, ground
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 (1 ounce) squares semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled
1/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Directions
In a small bowl, combine pie filling and almond extract; cover and refrigerate until chilled. For crepes, place the milk, eggs, butter, almonds and flour in a blender; cover and process until smooth.
Heat a lightly greased 8-in. nonstick skillet; pour about 2 tablespoons batter into center of skillet. Lift and tilt pan to coat bottom evenly. Cook until top appears dry and bottom is golden brown; turn and cook 15-20 seconds longer. Remove to a wire rack. Repeat with remaining batter, greasing skillet as needed. Stack cooled crepes with waxed paper or paper towels in between.
For the filling, in a mixing, beat cream and melted chocolate until soft peaks form. Spoon about 2 tablespoons over each crepe; roll up. Top with cherry mixture and sprinkle with slivered almonds.

Cooking : Beaten Biscuits

Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup lard, chilled and cut into small pieces
1/3 cup light cream
2 tablespoons cold water (optional)

Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar together. Use a fork to "cut" the lard into the flour until it looks like coarse meal. Using a standing mixer, or a wooden spoon, mix the dough as you slowly add the cream. Mix well to form the dough into a ball, adding water if needed.
Place the dough onto a tabletop, and knead slightly. With a mallet or a one-piece rolling pin, beat the dough a few times to form it into a rough rectangle. Fold the dough over, and then beat it out again. Repeat this process until the dough becomes white and blisters form on the surface, about 15 minutes.
Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 2 inch rounds, and prick the top a few times with the tines of a fork. Place on greased baking sheets.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden.

Cooking : Apple Avocado Salad with Tangerine Dressing

Ingredients
1 (10 ounce) package baby greens
1/4 cup chopped red onion
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup crumbled blue cheese
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1 apple - peeled, cored and sliced
1 avocado - peeled, pitted and diced
4 mandarin oranges, juiced
1/2 lemon, juiced
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
salt to taste

Directions
In a large bowl, toss together the baby greens, red onion, walnuts, blue cheese, and lemon zest. Mix in the apple and avocado just before serving.
In a container with a lid, mix the mandarin orange juice, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, olive oil, and salt. Drizzle over the salad as desired.

Cooking : Breakfast Casserole II

Ingredients
1 (16 ounce) package ground pork breakfast sausage
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 1/4 cups milk
1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 (32 ounce) package frozen potato rounds
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions
Place sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat, and cook until evenly brown. Drain, and set aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, condensed cream of mushroom soup, and milk. Stir in the sausage and mushrooms, and pour into the prepared baking dish. Mix in the frozen potato rounds.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese, and bake an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Cooking : Baked Fish Sandwiches

Ingredients
1 pound cod fillets
1 clove garlic, minced
1 lemon, cut into wedges
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons steak sauce
4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
2 tablespoons Ranch-style salad dressing

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place the fish fillets in a shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with garlic, and squeeze lemon juice over them. Dot with pieces of butter.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Spread steak sauce on the cut side of the bottoms of the buns. Top with pieces of fish, then drizzle with Ranch dressing. Place the top buns over the filling, and serve.

Cooking : Artichoke and Garlic Pizza

Ingredients
1 unbaked pizza crust
1 (6 ounce) jar marinated artichoke hearts, drained, liquid reserved
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup Classico� Tomato and Basil Sauce
1 medium tomato, cut in half and sliced
1 pound shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese

Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Prepare pizza crust according to recipe or package instructions. Place on a pizza pan.
Pour the liquid from the artichokes into a small skillet, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook for 1 minute, or until the liquid is almost gone. Add garlic, and cook, stirring, for less than a minute. Add artichoke hearts, stir to coat with garlic flavor, then remove from heat, and set aside.
Spread the pasta sauce over the prepared pizza crust. Sprinkle with cheese, then place the artichoke hearts and garlic over the cheese. Arrange tomato slices evenly over the top.
Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until crust is puffed and golden, and cheese is melted.
