Cooking : Apricot Sausages

Ingredients
1 (12 ounce) package fresh pork sausage links
1/3 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons apricot preserves
Orange slices

Directions
In a medium skillet, brown sausages on all sides. Add enough water to cover. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook for 10 minutes. Drain. Add juice and preserves. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes, turning sausages occasionally. Serve with a slotted spoon. Garnish with orange slices if desired.

Cooking : Apricot Meringue Pie

Ingredients
12 ounces dried apricots, chopped
1 1/2 cups water
2 1/2 cups sugar, divided
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 eggs, separated
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 (9 inch) pastry shell, baked

Directions
In a saucepan, bring apricots and water to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until apricots are softened. In a bowl, combine 2 cups sugar, cornstarch and salt; stir into apricot mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cook and stir for 1 minute or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir a small amount of hot filling into yolks. Return all to pan, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir 1 minute longer or until glossy and clear. Remove from the heat; stir in butter. Keep warm.
In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar on medium speed until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in remaining sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Pour hot filling into crust. Spread meringue evenly over filling, sealing edges to crust.
Bake at 325 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack for 1 hour. Chill for at least 3 hours before serving. Refrigerate leftovers.

Cooking : Aniseed Braids

Ingredients
7 cups all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons sugar
2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
2 tablespoons anise seed
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups fat-free milk
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups flour, sugar, yeast, aniseed and salt. In a small saucepan, heat the milk, butter and water to 120 degrees F-130 degrees F. Add to dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Add 1 egg; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a firm dough (dough will be sticky).
Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a bowl coated with nonstick cooking spray, turning once to coat top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes.
Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half. Divide each portion into thirds. Shape each into a 14-in. rope. Place three ropes on a baking sheet coated with nonstick cooking spray and braid; pinch ends to seal and tuck under. Repeat with remaining dough. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Beat remaining egg; brush over braids. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

Cooking : Apple, Brie, and Walnut Salad

Ingredients
2 red apples, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup balsamic vinaigrette
3 cups spring mix salad greens
1/2 cup sliced Brie cheese
1/3 cup toasted walnut pieces

Directions
Toss the apple slices with the vinaigrette in a bowl until evenly coated; add the greens and toss again; top with the Brie and walnuts just before serving.

Cooking : Blueberry Lemon Bread

Ingredients
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup white sugar
1 lemon, juiced
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons lemon zest
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup white sugar

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8x4 Inch loaf pan. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt together and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, and beat well. Mix in the juice of 1 lemon. Add the flour mixture, alternating with the milk. Fold in the lemon zest and blueberries. Pour into prepared 8x4 inch loaf pan.
Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. For the glaze, combine 1/4 cup sugar with 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Drizzle over cake while still warm.

Cooking : Almond Chicken and Rice

Ingredients
1 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 (3 1/2) pound broiler-fryer chicken, cut up
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 celery rib, chopped
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup slivered almonds, divided

Directions
Place the rice in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish; top with chicken. In a bowl, combine soup, milk, celery, onion, parsley, salt, pepper and 1/4 cup of almonds. Pour over chicken. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining almonds. Bake, uncovered, 15 minutes longer or until meat juices run clear.

Cooking : Artichoke Dip

Ingredients
1 (14 ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chiles

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine the artichoke hearts, mayonnaise, cheese and green chilies. Mix well and pour into a 2 quart casserole dish.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Garnish with chopped green onions and chopped tomato if desired.

Cooking : Brandied Pears

Ingredients
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
3 large pears, peeled, halved, and cored
1/3 cup walnuts, finely chopped
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons brandy
1 tablespoon plain yogurt
1 cup whipping cream
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 teaspoons brandy, sherry, or other liqueur

Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Mix 1/3 cup brown sugar with water and lemon juice together in an ungreased baking dish until sugar is dissolved. Arrange pear halves, core side down, in the dish, and baste with the sauce. Cover with aluminum foil.
Bake pears in the preheated oven for 20 - 25 minutes, or until fork-tender but not mushy.
Meanwhile, mix nuts together with the remaining 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons brandy, and the yogurt; set aside. In a separate bowl, whip cream until stiff peaks form. Sprinkle in white sugar and remaining 2 teaspoons of brandy, or liqueur of choice, and gently whip a few strokes more.
To serve, place one pear half in the center of each serving plate and fill core cavity with nut stuffing. Top with whipped cream. Serve warm.

Cooking : Barbecued Turkey Sandwiches

Ingredients
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon butter or stick margarine
3 cups shredded cooked turkey
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup red wine vinegar or cider vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
6 Kaiser rolls, split

Directions
In a large nonstick skillet, saute onion in butter until tender. Add the turkey, water, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and paprika. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Serve on rolls.

Cooking : Blackberry Pie IV

Ingredients
4 cups blackberries
1/2 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons tapioca
2 tablespoons butter
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C.)
In a large mixing bowl, combine blackberries, sugar and tapioca. Be careful not to damage the berries. Pour into pie crust. Cover with top crust, seal and crimp edges, then cut slits in the top for steam vents. Top with pats of butter.
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cooking : Bacon Corn Chowder

Ingredients
6 bacon strips, diced
3/4 cup diced celery
1 small onion, diced
1 cup diced potato
1 cup water
1 (14.75 ounce) can cream-style corn
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Directions
In a saucepan, cook bacon, celery and onion over medium heat for 10-15 minutes or until bacon is cooked; drain. Add potato and water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until potato is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients; heat through (do not boil). Refrigerate or freeze leftovers.

Cooking : A Jerky Chicken

Ingredients
1 teaspoon onion, finely chopped
3 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons soy sauce
4 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
1 teaspoon sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1 habanero pepper, sliced
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into 1 inch strips

Directions
Combine the onion, brown sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, thyme, sesame oil, garlic, allspice and habanero pepper in the container of a food processor or blender. Process until smooth. Place the chicken into a large resealable bag, and pour in 3/4 of the sauce. Squeeze out excess air, and seal. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
Preheat your oven's broiler.
Remove chicken from bag, and discard marinade. Broil chicken for 10 to 15 minutes, turning once to ensure even cooking. Heat remaining sauce in a small pan, and pour over chicken when serving.

Cooking : Bacon 'N' Egg Biscuits

Ingredients
2 cups buttermilk biscuit mix
7 tablespoons water
8 slices processed American cheese
8 bacon strips, halved and cooked

Directions
In a bowl, combine biscuit mix and water just until blended. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead 5 times. Roll out to 1/2-in. thickness; cut with a 3-in. biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees F for 9-10 minutes or until golden brown. Meanwhile, scramble the eggs. Split the biscuits; fill each with a slice of cheese, scrambled egg and two bacon pieces.

Cooking : Aunt Sally's Cocoa Drops

Ingredients
1/2 cup shortening
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions
Mix thoroughly sugar, shortening and egg. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and stir in. Add nuts.
Chill dough for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool. Frost with chocolate or white icing. Enjoy!

Cooking : Apple Coleslaw

Ingredients
2 cups coleslaw mix
1 unpeeled tart apple, chopped
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon celery seed

Directions
In a bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, apple, celery and green pepper. In a small bowl, whisk the remaining ingredients. Pour over coleslaw; toss to coat.

Cooking : Best Rib Sauce

Ingredients
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 cup brewed coffee
4 teaspoons brown sugar
1 (1.5 fluid ounce) jigger bourbon
1 cup honey
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup tomato paste
1/2 cup tomato sauce

Directions
In a medium saucepan over medium low heat, combine the hot pepper sauce, lime juice, coffee, sugar, whiskey, honey, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste and tomato sauce. Mix together well and allow to simmer for 30 minutes.

Cooking : Asparagus and Smoked Salmon Salad

Ingredients
1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and cut into 1 inch pieces
1/2 cup pecans, broken into pieces
2 heads red leaf lettuce, rinsed and torn
1/2 cup frozen green peas, thawed
1/4 pound smoked salmon, cut into 1 inch chunks
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Place asparagus in the pot, and cook 5 minutes, just until tender. Drain, and set aside.
Place the pecans in a skillet over medium heat. Cook 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until lightly toasted.
In a large bowl, toss together the asparagus, pecans, red leaf lettuce, peas, and salmon.
In a separate bowl, mix the olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Toss with the salad or serve on the side.

Cooking : Best Moist Chocolate Cake

Ingredients
1 cup margarine
1 3/4 cups white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups milk
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan. Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk, mixing just until incorporated. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.

Cooking : Baked Walnuts

Ingredients
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 pound walnut halves

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
To the stiff egg whites add sugar, butter and walnuts. Mix until nuts are well coated. Spread out on a cookie sheet.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring a couple of times, until browned.

Cooking : Baked Cornish Game Hens

Ingredients
2 Cornish game hens
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 stalk celery, chopped
1/4 green bell pepper, chopped
1 (4.5 ounce) can mushrooms, drained and chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup melted butter

Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a small bowl combine the 1/2 cup melted butter, onion, celery, bell pepper, mushrooms, garlic, basil, oregano and parsley.
Season hens inside and out with salt and pepper to taste, then stuff with equal amounts butter/vegetable mixture. Place stuffed birds in a 9x13 inch baking dish, breast side up. Drizzle with 1/4 cup melted butter.
Cover dish and bake in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours. Remove cover and brown at 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).

Cooking : Auntie Willie's Dutch Apple Pie

Ingredients
1 cup butter, melted
1 cup superfine sugar
2 cups cake flour
8 large tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, combine butter, sugar, egg and flour. Stir with spoon for a few moments until mixture hangs together a bit. Then use hands to form dough. Pat a bit more than 1/2 of the dough on the bottom and sides of 9 inch pie dish.
Fill pie shell with apples and dust them with cinnamon. Crumble the rest of the dough over top of apples until they are more or less covered evenly. If desired, sprinkle a handful of sugar over the top for a sugary top crust. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Cooking : Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Strata

Ingredients
12 thick slices white bread, cut into 1 inch cubes
1/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups chopped fresh mushrooms (optional)
2 1/2 cups half-and-half
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Directions
Toss cubed bread with bacon, cheese, and mushrooms, and pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Whisk together eggs, half-and-half, and mustard until smooth, then pour evenly over cubed bread. Cover dish with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Remove plastic wrap from the baking dish, and bake strata in preheated oven until the top is golden brown, and the eggs are set, about 1 hour. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Cooking : Banana Oat Bread Pudding

Ingredients
4 slices whole wheat bread
1 cup rolled oats
2 1/2 cups lowfat milk
1/4 cup butter, softened
4 ripe bananas, sliced
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Directions
In a large bowl, break bread into small pieces. Add oats and milk; stir. Let stand for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
To the milk mixture add: butter, bananas, brown sugar and raisins (if desired). Stir just to combine and pour into prepared pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45-55 minutes, or until pudding has set. Cool before serving.

Cooking : Bratwurst, Potato and Cabbage Soup

Ingredients
16 ounces bratwurst, casings removed
2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 onion, chopped
2 cups water
1 medium head cabbage, chopped
3 cups milk, divided
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 ounces Swiss cheese, diced

Directions
In a large skillet over medium high heat, saute the sausage for 10 minutes, or until browned and crumbled. Drain well and discard the fat.
In a large pot over high heat, combine the browned sausage, potatoes, onion and water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the cabbage, return to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for another 20 minutes. Add 2 1/2 cups of the milk and heat slowly to just under a boil. (Note: Don't try to do this too fast, or the milk will burn on the bottom of the pot.)
In a separate small bowl, mix the flour with the remaining milk, and add to the pot slowly, stirring constantly, so that the flour does not clump. (Note: Make sure you get out all the lumps because they will not cook out on their own.)
When the mixture in the pot thickens, add the cheese and stir off and on until the cheese has melted.

Cooking : Apple Breakfast Bread

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 apples - peeled, cored and chopped

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8x4 inch loaf pan.
In a bowl, mix the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy. Beat in the eggs.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Mix into the butter mixture until moistened. Fold in the apples. Transfer to the prepared loaf pan.
Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 15 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cooking : Bean Quesadillas

Ingredients
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
1/2 (10 ounce) package frozen corn
12 (12 inch) flour tortillas
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions
Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium heat, and saute the onion and garlic until soft. Mix in beans, bell pepper, tomatoes, and corn; cook until heated through.
Spread 6 tortillas with equal amounts of the bean and vegetable mixture. Sprinkle with equal amounts of the Cheddar cheese, and top with the remaining tortillas to form quesadillas.
Heat 1/4 cup oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place quesadillas in the skillet and cook, turning once, until cheese is melted and both sides are lightly browned.

Cooking : Banana Muffins with a Crunch

Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup melted butter, cooled
2 bananas, mashed
1 banana, chopped
1 cup granola
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup shredded coconut
1/4 cup banana chips (optional)

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line 24 muffin cups with paper liners.
In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix in the eggs, milk, vanilla, and butter. Fold in mashed bananas, chopped banana, granola, walnuts, and coconut. Scoop into the prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle with banana chips.
Bake 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted in the center of a muffin comes out clean.

Cooking : Brazilian Cheese Bread (Pao de Queijo)

Ingredients
1/2 cup olive oil or butter
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup milk or soy milk
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups tapioca flour
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2/3 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
2 beaten eggs

Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Pour olive oil, water, milk, and salt into a large saucepan, and place over high heat. When the mixture comes to a boil, remove from heat immediately, and stir in tapioca flour and garlic until smooth. Set aside to rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
Stir the cheese and egg into the tapioca mixture until well combined, the mixture will be chunky like cottage cheese. Drop rounded, 1/4 cup-sized balls of the mixture onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven until the tops are lightly browned, 15 to 20 minutes.

Cooking : Brandy Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients
3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup brandy
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place the sweet potatoes into a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and allow to steam dry for a minute or two. Mash the sweet potatoes in a large bowl, then mix in the white sugar, brown sugar, butter, eggs, brandy, and vanilla extract. Spread potatoes in a 9-inch square baking dish.
Bake until golden brown, 40 to 45 minutes.

Cooking : Asparagus Potato Soup

Ingredients
2 cups diced peeled potatoes
1/2 pound fresh asparagus, chopped
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 celery ribs, chopped
1 tablespoon chicken bouillon granules
4 cups water
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
12 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
3/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions
In a large saucepan or soup kettle, combine the potatoes, asparagus, onion, celery, bouillon and water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir in the butter.
In a bowl, combine flour, cream, milk, salt and pepper until smooth; add to the vegetable mixture. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Garnish with bacon and cheese.

Cooking : Brandy or Rum Balls

Ingredients
1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup brandy
1 (16 ounce) package vanilla wafers, crushed very fine
2 cups finely chopped walnuts
1 cup confectioners' sugar for rolling

Directions
In the microwave or in a metal bowl over a pan of simmering water, melt evaporated milk and chocolate chips, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the crushed vanilla wafers and brandy until well blended. Roll the dough into small balls and roll the balls in chopped walnuts, then in confectioners' sugar. Store covered in the refrigerator.

Cooking : Awesome Apple Martinis

Ingredients
1 fluid ounce apple schnapps
1 fluid ounce vodka
1 fluid ounce apple juice

Directions
In a cocktail shaker full of ice, combine apple schnapps, vodka and apple juice. Mix well. Pour into glasses and garnish with a slice of Granny Smith apple.

Cooking : Asparagus Beef Roll-Ups

Ingredients
2 tablespoons whipping cream
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1/4 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
4 (6 inch) flour tortillas
4 thin slices cooked roast beef
4 fresh asparagus spears, cooked and drained

Directions
In a small mixing bowl, beat whipping cream until soft peaks form. Fold in sour cream, horseradish, lemon peel, salt and pepper. Spread about 2 teaspoons on each tortilla; top with a slice of beef. Spread with the remaining cream mixture. Place an asparagus spear at one end; roll up tightly. Wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Cut into 1/2-in. slices.

Cooking : Bok Choy Salad

Ingredients
1 medium head bok choy, diced
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 (3 ounce) package ramen noodles
1/2 cup blanched slivered almonds
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
1/3 cup olive oil
3 teaspoons lemon juice

Directions
Combine bok choy and green onions; cover and chill.
Whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice and ramen noodle seasoning packet. Refrigerate until chilled.
Break ramen noodles into small pieces; combine with toasted almonds and sesame seeds.
Before serving, combine the cabbage mixture and noodle mixture; add dressing and toss to coat.

Cooking : Braided Egg Bread

Ingredients
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon water
1/2 teaspoon poppy seeds

Directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine 1-1/2 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt. In a saucepan, heat water and oil to 120 degrees F-130 degrees F. Add to dry ingredients along with eggs. Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-1/2 hours.
Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Set a third of the dough aside. Divide remaining dough into three pieces. Shape each into a 13-in. rope. Place ropes on a greased baking sheet and braid; pinch ends to seal and tuck under. Divide reserved dough into three equal pieces; shape each into a 14-in. rope. Braid ropes. Center 14-in. braid on top of the shorter braid. Pinch ends to seal and tuck under. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
Beat egg and water; brush over dough. Sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake at 375 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Cover with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking. Remove from pan to a wire rack to cool.

Cooking : Boiled Mustard Potatoes

Ingredients
6 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/2 cup prepared yellow mustard, or to taste
5 large Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and halved

Directions
Whisk the water, yellow mustard, and salt together in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, and stir in the potatoes. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until tender, 25 to 30 minutes. Drain liquid, and serve.

Cooking : Black Walnut Pound Cake

Ingredients
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1 (3.4 ounce) package instant vanilla flavor pudding mix
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 1/4 cups ground black walnuts

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch tube pan.
In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, instant pudding, eggs, oil and water for 2 minutes using an electric mixer on medium speed. Stir in the ground walnuts. Pour into the prepared pan.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. Cool in the pan before inverting onto a plate to serve.
